Celtic delay to release Mzava worries Kinnah

Malawi coach Kinnah Phiri says he is disappointed with South African club Celtic’s delay in releasing defender Limbikani Mzava to join camp  ahead of 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tunisia on Saturday.

Mzava was expected to jet in on Tuesday with Mponda and Spain- based striker Robin Ngalande but failed to make it.

Kinnah says they have been trying to contact the club on the availability of the player who was still working on his work permit but his efforts have proved futile.

“They said Mzava will complete the work permit process by Monday but up to now we haven’t heard from them and the player is not in camp, it's very unfortunate,” he complained.

Kinnah: Mzava needed for defensive options

Kinnah said he wanted to have more options in defence since Elvis Kafoteka is bereaved as he lost a wife who died in a car accident last Friday.

During the morning training session, Peter Wadabwa picked up a minor knock but according to a member of the technical panel, the player will be fine and will continue training with the team.

Malawi are currently third in Group K, level with Tunisia on 10 points with just two games left for each side.

Botswana have already qualified as group winners but with five teams in the pool, the runners-up are also guaranteed a place at the finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea next year.
