Comment on A Bad Writer and the Words You’re Looking For by Meredith Rose Ashe

Outcast, you’re awesome and you’re not “bad”. I’ve been writing as long as I can remember and I’ve tried every “rule in the books”. I’ve outlined long, brief, whatever. You name it, I’ve tried it. What I’ve found true for me is that outlining too much (beyond the brief ideas I know go in the story) is that I get stifled, bored, and inevitably wind up with some sort of block that results in me casting aside the story for something new. Talk about bad! But that’s what I’ve done. This “new” way I’ve been walking gives me room to move. I like that. It’s not totally “seat-of-the-pants”. I prefer to call it organic.

You’re organic too. Your stories just originate in different ways from others. That’s good. Remember: no one way is the right way (no matter what the books say). What matters is that you find your way that keeps you going. Good job and good luck!

Now, if you don’t mind, I think I might check out this blog of yours…
