A man confused by booze and the discovery that his mistress was going with another man rammed his vehicle into a building but escaped without serious injuries although the vehicle overturned.

According to  scandal sheet,  Weekend Times, the culprit, a financial director at Proto Feeds, Christopher Daziyele lost control of the vehicle as it tried to turn a corner and flew from the tarmac and hit the corner of brick fence, demolishing part of it and part of the house inside.

The paper, quoting sources, said it had been a long day for the finance director during which the frustrations of witnessing the Malawi football team draw against Tunisia; the discovery that his mistress was going out with another man; and alcohol conspired to confuse his mind.

This is not it. The picture only shows one incident a car smashes into a house

The owner of the building, which is in Area 5 in Machinjiri, Felix Malumbo Ziba, told the newspaper that the incident happened around midnight on Saturday.

"When I arrived at the scene at 6 am, I found the culprit very drunk and we could not discuss the matter because he was being rude," he said.

Ziba, who works for ministry of lands, decided to report the matter to Machinjiri Police Station, which is just at the stone's throw distance from the demolished building.

"When I was reporting the matter that was when the officer identified the culprit saying that earlier the culprit had stormed the police buildings demanding that he needed a police escort and chuckles to arrest a man who was going out with his mistress.

"I learned that earlier in the day, the man went to watch the match between Malawi and Tunisia. While at the match, he saw a vehicle he had bought for his mistress being driven by another man. He got angry and decided to go to the mistress' house where he broke property he had bought for her. After that he decided to come to the police station to get escort and visit the man he suspected was going out with his mistress," he said.

Ziba said when he learned that the man works for Proto Feeds, he decided to call the company's director and had very fruitful discussions with him.

He said he has spent over K2.5 million to build the house, which was at roofing stage at the time drunk driver rammed into it.

The finance director refused to comment.
