Great post Hack. Any reason for the timing of this one? Feeling the burning stare of self-doubt yourself? Well, I couldn’t agree more with the sentiment. Here’s my take on why people in “the arts” seem to feel this more than others. Writers, artists, actors, etc. have a hard time describing themselves as such if they don’t physically receive a paycheck for their work. I know that if someone asked me, “what do you do?”, I would tell them that I am a purchasing analyst, rather than a writer. Why? Because I’ve never received the “validation” I tell myself I need in order to make that proclamation. Even though I love to write, and plan to do so as much as possible, I think I will always doubt myself until that validation comes along. And that, in my opinion, is at the heart of self doubt.
