Malawi's retired defender Patrick Mabedi has been appointed the new head of development at South Africa's Moroka Swallows club.

According to Soccer Laduma, Mabedi who played for Moroka Swallows before hanging his boots has been a second fiddle to the late Eddie Lewis for some times before Lewis passed away, following a long battle with cancer.

Mabedi: New role

Now the former Bullets player is controlling Lewis legacy at the club with help of Goodman Mazibuko and Dennis Lota.

With the help of Mabedi, the Club are hoping to grow their current youth set up to continue cultivating talent in Soweto.

Before joining Swallows, Mabedi was also a skipper for giants Kaizer Chiefs after eight successful years at the club after arriving from Bullets in 1998.

He is due to turn 38 in November.
