Escom United displaced Civo United on the summit log-table of the elite TNM Super League on Sunday after a 2-1 victory to the Civil Servants in a match played at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

The Electricians, who have 22 points, were excellent, playing passing football that was extremely easy on the eye as they stated their case for a title defence

Heston Munthali stole the headline with a brace that was enough to silence the Civil Servants while Patrick Gunde netted the only goal for Civo.

Civo who thrashed Big Bullets 3-1 on Saturday is on second position with 21 points.

Escom: Tiptoed to the top of TNM Super League

Elsewhere, Azam Tigers had a fruitful Sunday afternoon in Nchalo as they won 3-1 to Zomba United.

The Kanjedza boys scored through Charles Ngosi with two goals and Lumbani Munthali while the old capital city out-fit kissed the net courtesy of Manase Chiza.

After managing to beat Mighty Wanderers 1-0 on Saturday, Epac Fc failed to do the same on Sunday, as they lost 3-0 to Cobbe.

Dick Chirwa scored a hat trick for the soldiers with Moses Nankumba nailing the last nail on Epac’s coffin.

In other matches on Saturday, Red Lions went down 0-1 to Blantyre United. The Commercial City side scored through Innocent Bokosi.

At Nankhaka, Blue Eagles failed to ultilise home ground advantage as they drew 1-1 with Mafco Fc .

Meanwhile, Civo United coach ‘Sir’ Alex Masanjala has conceeded that this year’s season will be tough.

Speaking after their game against Escom, Masanjala said: “Teams are well prepared this season and l must admit that the going will be tough."

So far, Epac Fc have concluded their games for the first round,as their marks man Ishmael Thindwa is still the current top scorer with 13 games
