Malawi national football team talismanic striker Esau Kanyenda has hinted that he is hopeful that he will be ready to feature in the crucial game against Chad in African cup of Nation's qualifier in October.

He said this after undergoing a successful surgery on his arm at Beit cure International Hospital in Blantyre.

Kanyenda broke his arm after he landed awkwardly in the third minute of the Saturday's game against Tunisia, and was rushed to Queens Elizabeth Central Hospital for scanning where it was confirmed that he had sustained a fracture.

"My injury is not a serious one, an arm injury is very different from a foot injury, and I am hopeful that within two weeks I will start training to keep my self fit, and I am positive I will play in the crucial match of the qualifier against Chad," he said.

Doctors have given Kanyenda at least four weeks of break so that he should regain his fitness.

The Flames are now just one win away from qualifying for the 2012 Afcon while Tunisia will be hoping for a favour from Chad and a win of their own in the final fixtures to avoid missing out on their first continental showpiece since the 1992 edition.
