Flames striker Esau Kanyenda will go under the surgeon knife for an operation on his fractured left arm later this week, Nyasa Times understands.

Kanyenda who was Malawi’s stand in captain in the  2012 Afcrica Cup of Nations qualifier match against Tunisia suffered the injury in the first 5 minutes of the game while fighting for the ball with a Tunisian defender and was rushed to the hospital.

Results at the hospital revealed that the striker dislocated a bone.

“After examinations at the hospital, they told me that a bone got broken when I was fighting for that ball, it was very painful and I couldn’t continue playing . I am sure I will be out of action for sometime,” he told Nyasa Timeson Sunday.

Kanyenda: In POP

Kanyenda narrated that he was shielding the ball away from a Tunisian defender from a Moses Chavula throw in. The Tunisian defender then hit Kanyenda’s arm with the tip of his boot so hard in an effort to win the ball.

The striker says doctors after putting a POP on his arm told him to go back for an operation before Wednesday this week.

The ‘Black Mamba’ as he is fondly called says the operation will determine how long he will stay on the sidelines.
