Kinnah names squad for local players

Flames coach Kinnah Phiri has drafted in three new faces in his 25 local based squad schedulled to go into camp in readiness of their October 8 Africa Cup of Nations' must-win in Chad.

Malawi only needs to win with any margin to seal their back-to-back Nations Cup qualification.

In his locally squad, Kinnah has roped in Blue Eagles defender Ken Mponda, Big Bullets custodian Mc Donald Harawa and the current TNM Super League top scorer Ishmael Thindwa.

“I want to give a chance to the players because on the domestic scene they have proved to be good, "said Kinnah.

Another notable player back in the squad after a long spell with a knee injury is Civo United left back Emmanuel Zoya.

The last time Zoya showcased for the Flames was in Tanzania during the Cecafa Cup.

Other players who were called in the squad are former South African based Fischer Kondowe, Joseph 'Shakira' Kamwendo and Swadick Sanudi.

Kinnah o said the locally based players will be joined by foreign based professional players.

Meanwhile, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is working on a possibility of the Flames playing a strength testing match against South Africa's Bafana Bafana
