MTL Queens displaced Bingu Tigresses on the second position of the OG Issa Southern Region Netball League on Sunday after thrashing Chitakale Sisters 112 baskets to 7.

In a one affair match, which took place at Blantyre Youth Centre, the Queens outclassed their opponent in all the quarters with the likes of Joana Kachilika, Rianna Mtenje and Sylivia Malenga Mtetemera.

Hero of the day from the Queens side was veteran Mary 'Atcheya' Waya, who notched most of the baskets. Waya just recovered from a knee injury.

In another encounter on the same venue, Escom Sisters were on a serious business in their quest to defend the title, as they won 82-15 baskets to Woget Stars.

The electricians, who are still enjoying the summit of the league with 27 points, netted most of their baskets courtesy of Mwayi 'Professor' Kumwenda.

As usual, Escom Sisters coach Griffin Zagalo Saenda fielded almost his first seven with Kumwenda and Sarudzai Gondwe leading the train.

The combination of the duo was superb that each time Kumwenda had the ball, Woget players were kept on the tight corner.

Other players, who were a headache to Woget, were Caroline 'Ayuda' Mtukule, Towera 'Tobe' Vinkhumbo, Enelesi Mdezo and Bridget Kumwenda.

In Zomba, Young Girls were on rampage, as they managed to win two games against Prison Sisters 69-24 before thumping Statistic Queens 41-34.

Escom Sisters mentor Griffin Saenda vowed to defend their title no matter any circumstances.

"We are almost there, and l will make sure that we should win all our remaining matches," said the former Malawi Queens coach.
