Barely a few days after Escom United  left back Maupo Msowoya escaped death after being attacked by thugs, two  Mighty Wanderers players were also nearly attacked by thugs on Saturday.

The Nomads right defender Wongani Kaipa and Diverson Chilemba on Saturday mid-night escaped death when over ten masked men invaded their house in Chilomoni Township.

The duo told Nyasa Times that after coming from Zomba where the Nomads lost 1-0 to Epac Fc they went straight home to relax.

Kaipa said it was around mid night when his young brother heard a person knocking on the front door.

Petrified: Wongani Kaipa and Diverson Chilemba

"He did not open the door as fear gripped him. When he piped on the door he saw more than 10 masked men with tools in their hands. They were shouting in anger ( Tatsekulani chitseko kapena mukufuna tithyole? Tithana nanu)," said Kaipa.

The former Adams Fc defender said that he was alerted by his colleague through a phone call that he should not dare to open the door.

"Since my house is near Diverson, he phoned me immediately that the same people were also knocking on his door.  I was in a state of shock because this is the first time for such an incidence to happen to me, "he said.

Concurring with Kaipa was his friend Chilemba, who said the thugs went away after failing to open the door.

"We are leaving in fear because it was scary to see them through the window. We could hear them uttering all sorts of words like ( Tiyeni tingophwanya chitseko tithane nawo mkati momwemo),"said Chilemba, formerly of Nchalo United.

Wanderers official Hastings Chunga confirmed with Nyasa Times that the incidence did took place.

"We were briefed on the incidence, and they were thieves. Right now l have referred the matter to our executive before referring the issue to Police," said Chunga, who assured the players of enough security.

Last week Monday, Escom United left back Maupo Msowoya nearly died after thugs attacked him while jogging along the Magalasi Road in Blantyre.

The former Big Bullets vast experience player met his ordeal around 6pm. The player told The Weekend Times that two guys armed with machetes hit him on the fore head and arms before he collapsed.

It was a certain woman, who came to her rescue by  wrapping his bleeding head  before being referred to Mtengoumodzi Private Hospital.
