I’ve found the perfect way to avoid writing any kind of outline.
Write VERY short items! :D
I’ve actually only set forth on one story. It’s still going, 32 years later. My biggest problem is the characters have taken over, and when I try to finish things off, one of them goes off and pulls SOMETHING that requires more story-telling.
That’ll teach me to make my lead character a rebel!
