NBS Bank Limited will be open for business on Sunday, as competition for customers hots up.

A Chichiri Shopping Mall Branch in commercial capital, Blantyre was the first in Malawi to open on a Sunday this week.

Shoppers piling out of Shoprite were greeted by an unusual sight: a NBS bank open for business on a Sunday.

NBS Bank said in a statement that, the Chichiri shopping mall branch will be offering Sunday services to its customers.

"The branch at our shopping mall will now be open for business from 10 am to 2 pm in the afternoon," the statement reads in part.

The bank said they have decided to open Sunday to provide services to customers in need of its internal banking transactions such as money deposits and withdrawals.

NBS Bank operates through a network of 13 branches and 12 agencies throughout the country.
